First of all, a hello to all my regular mailing listers. I’ve transferred everything over to here at Substack for a number of reasons. One of which is to centralise my communication output; another being that Mailchimp is becoming more and more difficult to wrestle with, but that’s another story!
I will continue to publish my essays on here, but if there is any important information to communicate I will do it here also. A tour announcement here and a record release there at most…. which leads me onto the reason for today’s post.
The ‘Separate Entities EP’ is due for release on April 4th, with a single up front due out on March 14th. Here is the link to pre-save . This is a 3 track EP with tracks recorded over 3 different sessions. The first single ‘Minute’ was recorded alongside ‘Entity’ (our recent album) but somehow sat in a world of its own. It reminds me of the little minuets I used to play as a child on the piano and the title reflects that, albeit incorrectly. Until recently I used to think that the English translation of the word Minuet was ‘Minute’ and represented the rough duration of such tunes. Turns out I was wrong, but it’s too late now! The other tunes ‘Hornet’ (a vespa of a tune) and ‘For The Want Of…’ (a soothing antihistamine!) complete the EP.
And by way of a sign off, a reminder that our 2025 Entity tour is underway, though it really gathers momentum in April. See the dates below and find the links to the tickets here.
I am really disappointed to note that the band are only playing one Scottish gig, at Aberdeen Jazz Festival. No gigs in the Glasgow or Edinburgh areas. Sorry, but if the band can't be bothered to play in Scotland's biggest cities, then it seems only fair that we fans shouldn't be bothered to buy the band's new music. I got into the trio about 4/5 years ago and have bought every CD (and some albums on vinyl, too) & digital download since then, but it seems they no longer wish our support, so thanks for the memories, but you've just lost some loyal Scottish fans. A very poor show.
